Ian Sohn

Ian Sohn
SVP
Chicago

Unlike the character in the famous Three Dog Night song, “Never Been to Spain,” Ian has been to Spain, England and Las Vegas (but not Oklahoma).

Ian is a senior vice president, based in Ogilvy PR’s Chicago office as part of the Consumer Marketing Group. In this role he provides strategic and creative counsel to the agency’s existing clients while doing the same as part of the new business development process. Ian also develops digital communications strategies, with an emphasis on social media and word-of-mouth.

Ian’s experience with brand like Nokia and Sony has fostered his keen interest in exploring the crossroads of travel and technology.

Prior to joining Ogilvy PR in 2007, Ian spent three years as a marketer with Nokia’s Multimedia business group. Based in New York, Ian managed Nokia’s global marketing partnership strategy and process.

Prior to that, Ian learned the media and entertainment landscape in the corporate communications department at Sony Music. This led to roles at several new media and word-of-mouth marketing agencies where he worked with clients such as Bayer, Capitol Records, Clear Channel Radio, Columbia Records, Mattel, Ralston-Purina, Rockstar Games, Universal Pictures and VH1.

Joining Ogilvy PR represents a full-circle for Ian – he started his career as a public relations consultant for companies such as The Body Shop, Condé Nast, Viacom and The Virgin Entertainment Group.

Ian is a Chicago native, and in June of 2007 he and his family returned to the Windy City after 11 years in New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, and an MBA from New York University. Ian is an active blogger and enjoys following the Chicago Cubs.
