Ms. Boorstein’s roots in economic development and tourism grew out of her American foreign service childhood when she befriended the gorillas of the Congo, learned to weather minus 48 degree temperatures in Russia and speak Sicilian in Palermo, Italy.

Ms. Boorstein can be found at the at the New York office of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in the public affairs group, where she manages international communications programs on behalf of a variety of national, global and economic development/tourism accounts, including ProChile, the Netherlands and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office. During her tenure, Tamara has also managed global public relations efforts for the Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Women Program a global initiative to increase the number of underserved women receiving a business and management education and improve the quality and capacity of business and management education around the world

Prior to joining Ogilvy PR, Tamara worked at MWW Group, where she managed and oversaw the firm’s higher education and economic development practices, and ran several of the New York office corporate communications accounts. In particular, Ms. Boorstein focused on providing customized and integrated communications solutions to promote Scottish Development International, the State University of New York, Polytechnic University (now part of New York University), and led projects for both Iceland Naturally and the country of Romania.

Before MWW Group, Ms. Boorstein managed her own public relations agency where she spearheaded media relations and corporate communications programs for the Securities Industry Automation Corporation (a subsidiary of the New York Stock Exchange and the American Stock Exchange), as well as a variety of state economic development agencies including Wyoming, North Dakota, Indiana and the New York State Senate. Previously, she held positions at leading public relations firms such as Edelman Public Relations Worldwide and Ruder Finn Public Relations. She has also conducted marketing work for the International Center at Fordham University and the New York State Senate.

Tamara started her career overseas, teaching English as a Second Language through the Japan Exchange and Teaching program, and was based in Kofu, Yamanashi located near Mount Fuji.

Ms. Boorstein is a member of New York Women in Communications, the Overseas Press Club, the Japan Exchange Teaching Alumni Association and the Foreign Service Youth Foundation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in education from Adelphi University.

Although, Tamara lives in New York City, she considers herself a displaced Washingtonian. Tamara is active in her Brooklyn community, and she is currently planning her next travel adventure.
